How to get to Tidung Island
Tidung Island is just an hour’s speedboat journey from Jakarta, the capital city of Indonesia, heading northwest within the famous Thousand Islands. It comprises two islands: Tidung Kecil (Small Tidung) and Tidung Besar (Big Tidung), connected by a 700-meter bridge known as the Lover Bridge. The island is encircled by stunning coral reefs in crystal-clear waters. The gentle sea breeze, clear waters, and vibrant corals promise an exceptional experience. Our resort, constructed entirely over the ocean floor, offers views of live corals, various fish species, and breathtaking scenery.
HARBOUR – MARINA ANCOL
Most likely you will be taking a speedboat which is about a one-hour trip, it leaves from Marina Ancol, Pier 17, on Jakarta’s north coast. Be aware that Marina Ancol has parking and entrance fees. You can get there by taxi, Uber, or Grab, as it’s a well-known location. The regular speedboat sets off at 8:00 AM, so aim to be there 40 minutes early. Once you arrive, head straight to Pier 17. You’ll find the registration desk opposite the pier. If you’ve booked with us, let the registrar know you’re a Tidung Lagoon guest; they’ll have your name—or the group leader’s name—on the list. No extra payment is necessary since the speedboat fare is included in your package. Fares typically range from Rp. 150,000 to Rp. 190,000 per person, varying by season. Our staff or a representative will be there to welcome you. Make sure you have contact details for your Person In Charge (PIC), provided before your journey. Although there’s no strict luggage weight limit on the speedboat, be mindful that larger, heavier items might be subject to restrictions.
MUARA ANGKE FERRY TERMINAL
If you are planning to take the ferry, which is about a 2.5-hour trip, it departs from Muara Angke Ferry Terminal. Most ferry sets sail at 8:00 am daily with a fare of approximately Rp. 85,000 per person, per trip. On weekends, additional ferries may operate to Tidung Island. It’s advisable to arrive at least 40 minutes before departure. Muara Angke Terminal is located on the north side of Jakarta. Accessible by taxi, Grab, or Uber, it’s recommended to consult Google Maps for directions before departing, as not all drivers may be familiar with the harbor location. Upon arrival at the ferry terminal, our staff will be on hand to greet you. Alternatively, an affiliated representative will meet you. Please ensure to contact your assigned Person In Charge (PIC), who will be designated to you before your journey. The ferry has minimal restrictions on the weight of luggage that a passenger can bring aboard.
CONSIDER JAKARTA TRAFFIC
Arriving at the harbor early in the morning typically means less traffic, particularly on weekends. However, if you’re coming from a distance, it’s wise to account for unpredictable traffic conditions by allowing extra time. Taxis, Grab, or Uber are reliable options for reaching the harbor. If you have internet access, Google Maps can be a useful tool for navigation. Be aware that some drivers may not know the precise location of the harbor.
CONSIDER THE WEATHER
The speedboat service is rarely halted or cancelled due to bad weather, thanks to the vessel’s size. Such delays occur only about 1-2 days annually, typically during the monsoon season from December to January, characterized by bad weather, strong winds, and high waves. At Tidung Lagoon Resort, the impact of the season is generally minimal and quite safe. While heavy rain has little effect on our location except during storms, some guests find the experience of strong winds or storms quite enjoyable. Rain usually doesn’t have a significant impact, offering a cooling sensation instead. When there’s a strong wind without rain, most people appreciate the ocean breeze. The resort’s weather is variable, with temperatures ranging from 24°C to 32°C throughout the year, and we experience only dry and rainy seasons.
GETTING FROM OVERSEAS
If you’re traveling to Tidung Lagoon from abroad, you can fly into Soekarno-Hatta International Airport (CKG) in Jakarta, Indonesia. The journey from the airport to the harbor takes only 30 to 60 minutes by taxi, Grab, or Uber depend on the traffic. However, since the speedboat or ferry typically departs early in the morning (usually at 8:00am), it’s important to consider your arrival time in Jakarta. If an overnight stay is necessary, options include Hotel Aston Ancol, Hotel Novotel, Mangga Dua Square, and Hotel Ibis Jakarta Mangga Dua, with room rates ranging from Rp. 500,000 to Rp. 1.200,000 per night. These hotels are a mere 10-20 minutes from Marina Ancol. Direct booking on their websites may offer special discounts for advance reservations. The area is known as a prime shopping destination, popular among tourists for its vast selection of items at bargain prices.
